Wall of Independence: Messages of Support

Hello and congratulations from Bangkok, Thailand! I have just learned that my country has already recognized your independence. I’m very proud. No doubt that Kosovo is an independent state. You will always have my support.
Best regards,
Your Friend.

Nasathon, Bangkok, Thailand, December 8, 2013

I am delighted that my country, the United Kingdom, has recognised Kosovo for what it truly is: a country. I can't wait until Kosovo, Serbia and both their friends join the European Union and join our huge, happy family so we can be one, so we can be together. Kosovo has a long way to go, but I wish it the best on its journey to freedom.

Henry W, London, Great Britain, November 10, 2013

Congratulations! I hope more countries recognize you as a country! ;)

Matthew, November 10, 2013

My name is Stephen and I live in the United States. Good luck to all of you over there in Kosovo and here is hoping that the P5 members of the U.N. (specifically Russia, and China) grant you the independence you darn well deserve. God bless all of you and long live Kosovo.

Stephen, United States of America, November 10, 2013

I hope this agony about independence will be end soon as possible so our two countries (Serbia and Kosovo) could finally could go on and begin to befriend.

Ivan V., Belgrade, Serbia, June 26, 2012

This is Claudette of Philippines and i have been waiting for Kosovo Independence to be recognized in our Country - Philippines. Nothing more liberating that can ever happen to a nation but to be free from all types of tyranny and nothing more sweeter for a person longing to see her love from Kosovo.

Claudette, Philippines, March 29, 2011

My name is Paulina and I am from Mexico. I had the oportunity to be in Kosova for one month in the summer of 2007, when I attended Prishtina´s Summer University. It was an awesome experience that changed my life! It is the first time I was ever in the Balkans, the other side of the world for me, but the people made me feel right at home. I was impressed by the warmth of the kosovar people, and by the intelligence and determination of their young people. I was mostly in Prishtina, which I loved, but I also went to other cities like Peja, Mitrovica, and Prizren (where I attended an albanian wedding and it was an incredible beautiful experience). I study International Relations so I was very interested in understanding the problem, and I tried to ask the students for their opinions and especially for their experiences during the 90´s. Some of the stories were heartbreaking, especially to think that young people my age went through very hard situations during the war. All of this was a life experience for me that I will never forget. Since I came back to Mexico, I have tried to study the Kosovo case deeply, and I will start my thesis in January about Kosovo´s Independence and International Law. I have also had the chance to defend the Kosovo side in debates and in Models of United Nations. I am also in love with your music, your food and your language, so I found probably the only albanian guy living in Mexico, my friend Azbi, who gave me albanian lessons. I wish I can go back to Kosova next summer to finish my thesis there. My country hasn´t recognize Kosova, but I am a loyal defender of the kosovar case. And in my point of view, the ICJ must declare that your declaration of independence is in accordance with international law, because in the end of the day, human rights are more important than anything, it says so in the UN Charter, and you have the right of self determination, and if the kosovars have chosen to express that through independence, then Viva Kosova Independiente! My best wishes from Meksika!

Paulina, Mexico, November 17, 2009

Hello from Germany. I am really disappointed, because so a little amout of countries has recognized the REPULIC OF KOSOVA. I have been taken notice in Kosova since the 90s. I have a lot friends from Kosova. I used to be there also in the 90s too,and of course after the independence. Russia, India, and China, you have to recognize Kosova, because the people has the right to live free. Greetings from Germany.

T.H.N, Hong Kong, China, December 21, 2008

I salute your success about recognition. I've usually looked on your web-site. I wish you every luck because I spear that it'll be finished this drama of collapse SFRJ and the life go in normal ways. I've usually tried to ensure other peoples that accept reality. People, even here, from time to time slowly change the opinion about Kosovo independence and they see reality. If the number of the recognition countries increase, the people's opinion in Serbia change in good way. I think that we will a good neighbors one day!

A., Serbia, October 15, 2008

Moje ime je Ante. Imam dvadeset godina. Hrvati Vas vole!!! Živjeli!!

Ante M., Zagreb, Croatia, September 17, 2008

I am ethnically Irish-Filipino and nationally American. My people fought for their independence and won. And all three nations are now wonderful, flourishing democracies. I am convinced that someday, later generations will look at Kosovo as another example of a people who fought for their right to be free. Kosovo made the world proud, and you should be proud of yourselves, too.

Dan, New Jersey, USA, August 19, 2008

Dear people of Kosova, congratulations for your expected independance which you have waited for such a long time. I'm happy and glad that a nation has managed it to fight against racism, intolerance and violence esp. against the weak persons. You can be, in this cruel word of today, a sign and an idol for everybody. Let not forget all the blood which had to flow to achieve this aim you finally obtained. You can be proud of what you've afforded with patience and friendliness. I hope you can keep these talents and give the world and understanding of
your country Kosova. Furthermore, I'm looking forward to visit the country of the man I love very soon. Good luck!

Kosova people have to be patient, democratic and understanding. You are doing that now so please keep it up. Let them demonstrate let them speak their mind let them express their feelings. That’s what Serbia didn’t let us do. So that’s why they lost us now. I am a Kosovar American born in homeland Kosova. So thank you kosova for being smart, understanding, democratic and free at last.

I am very happy to say that I stand corrected.

I was one of the persons that was asked by my friends in Prizren and Pristine about Kosova becoming a nation of it's own. I had to tell them that it would probably not happen in their life times.

I miss Prizren and the times I spent there. I arrived in Kosova right after the talks at Rambulle (not sure about the spelling). Then Milo ran the orange pumpkins we drove around out of Kosova. I went back into Kosova in July of 1999. I left in May of 2000.

I wish you all the best of wishes for your young country. I believe it's in good hands as long as the people in Kosova continue to chose who leads your country.

May almighty GOD bless you all and keep you safe.

Love you all.

Dear friends in Kosova,
I am very proud of your new country.
I have visited 3 times. April/May 2006, October/November 2006, & September/October 2007. I had the best time of my life visiting Kosova. I really enjoyed every minute. I stayed with my friends in Palluzhe, near Ratkoc. with the Dulaj family.
I visited with students in school at Ratkoc in 2006, and in Palluzhe
in 2007.
I visited the Memorial in Prekaz. I visited almost every city in Kosova. I think my heart is going to always be in
Prizren. I love Prishtina, but Prizren is my favorite city.
I hope one day that I can open a business in your country and live with my friends in Ratkoc & Palluzhe.
The citizens of Ratkoc & Palluzhe are the nicest people I have ever met. I will always be grateful to how everyone made me feel at home in your beautiful country.
I have spent 2 years learning how to speak Shqip.
I memorized over 1,000 words. Une flas pak Shqip ! Kuptoj pak.
The people of Kosova is why Kosova is so special !
The people of Kosova is your greatest asset !
I hope American companies like Keebler, Nabisco, Coca Cola, Pepsi, RC Cola, Wal Mart, Mcdonalds, Burger King, General Mills, John Deere, to name a few companies, will embrace Kosova with jobs that so many people need. I hope IKEA will be the first new company to open a factory in Kosova. IKEA should have the
honor of being the first large company in the world to have a factory making furniture for the world, in Kosova. I pray my wish comes true.
God Bless Kosova !!

Dear Sir/ Madam,
To be a member of the World, I feel happy to the establishment of the Kosovo Republic. The Kosovo citizen did not afarid the Serbian Government and tried to show the world the wishes for freedom.
But one thing I want to say is that although some nations that recognize the Kozovo may not have the seat in the UN or not recognize fully in the world. They still show the agreement of the freedom of Kozovo.

Lam, Hong Kong, China, February 22, 2008

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE INDEPENDENCE OF KOSOVO!! I was extremely pleased to hear that Kosovo declared its independence. I have been involved with Kosovars since the war when some chose to come to Canada. It was a real privilege for me to be able to work with these people. I am ashamed to admit that i knew very little about Kosovo until that time.

Since then I have become good friends with many here in Canada. When peace came to Kosovo many of the people I knew returned to help rebuild their country. I have had the privilege and honour of visiting Kosovo on three occasions. Each time I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the Gllareva family who live in Obiliq. Their hope for a brighter future has never waivered and now with independence I am sure that it will be brought to fruition.

My hope and prayer is that the people of Kosovo will not allow themselves to be drawn into conflict by those that oppose
independence. Kosovo is such a beautiful country with lots of potential for its young people. I am sure given time and investment that the economy will turn around and Kosovo will blossom into a land of which you can be very proud.

God bless you all - continue your hard work for the future!

Turkish Brothers and Sisters of Kosovan People...

Arda, Turkey, February 18, 2008

I'd like to congratulate you al lot with today.

I think Kosova has a right to be an independent state. Of course this will not vanish all the bad things that happened to your country, but from today you can look forward. You'have a future of your own.

In those very bad times, in 1999, I can remember my girlfriend and my. Standing in the pouring rain at the NATO-base in Brussels. We demonstrated for a quick action of NATO to prevent Serbia from destroying Kosova even more. Some ambassadures supported us, some didn't

In the end, NATO came into action.

Despite of all the deaths, lost and pain I'm glad you'd managed to grow further into this independent state.

Now it's for the world to support your country in all thinkable ways.

I'm sure Kosova will manage to be a great state, you can be proud on.

I wish you all the best, and a very happy, historical day. Enjoy; you deserve it!

All the best from Tilburg, the Netherlands.

Marieke and Rene, Tilburg, Netherlands, February 17, 2008

Atti, Hungary, February 17, 2008

I saw your site in the news and thought I would send an e-mail to say congratulations to all your people on your independence.

As long as the grass grows and rivers flow - May everyone in Kosovo have a bright, happy and prosperous future as, at long last, you take your rightful place in the world. Take a moment to remember those who came before you and sacrificed so much to bring you to this day. Your ancestors are proud of you.

The time is always right to do the right thing. Fight the good fight.

James, Canada, February 17, 2008
