Malaysia recognizes the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo

Malaysia recognized the Independence of Kosovo announces the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo. Today, the chief  of Liaison D’Affairs of Malaysia in Kosovo, M. Mansor handed the recognition letter signed by the Malaysian Foreign Minister, Rais Yatim on October 30th to Minister Hyseni

Earlier this year, Malaysia welcomed the Independence of Kosovo, and today it formalized the recognition.

Malaysia becomes the 52nd UN member country that formally recognizes the new Republic.

Finland approved the Passport of Kosova

Finland has approved the Kosova ordinary and official diplomatic passports to travel to Finland announces the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland . Travelers are still required a visa to Finland and the Schengen area. Passports are also granted to other entry permits, such as residence permits.

Norway recognizes the passport of Republic of Kosova

Norway today announced it will recognize the passports of Republic of Kosova. As of October 15 citizens of Kosova will be able to use their passports to travel to Norway.

Benelux countries recognize the passport of the Republic of Kosova

Starting today, the Benelux countires (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) will recognize the Kosovo passports, announced yesterday the Belgium Embassy in Prishtina.

The Belgium Embassy in Prishtina will handle the Visa services for Belgium and Luxemburg whereas for Netherlands, Kosova citizens will need to travel to Skopje.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) recognizes the Republic of Kosova

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Recognizes the Republic of Kosova notifies the Emirates News Agency. This is also confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosova.

UAE is the 51th UN and the 1st Arab country that has formally recognized the new Republic.

The Government of Macedonia has formally recognized the Republic of Kosova

The Government of Macedonia has formally recognized the independence of Kosovo, Macedonia’s Foreign Minister, Antonio Milososki announced. This happened shortly after the parliament of Macedonia voted pro independence of Republic of Kosova and establishment of diplomatic relations with the new Republic.

The Government of Montenegro unanimously decided to recognize the Republic of Kosova and establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosova.

Montenegro becomes the 49th UN member state that has recognized the Republic of Kosova.

Hungary and Latvia recognize passports of Republic of Kosova

Hungary and Latvia, both EU member states, have recognized the passports of Republic of Kosova. These latest recognitions increase the number of places open to travellers and business from Kosova. Hungary and Latvia are also members of the Schengen Accord that have recognized Republic of Kosova as a sovreign and independent state.

Earlier this week media reports stated that Romania and Slovakia have done the same. This information is innacurate and results from misinterpretation of the statements of Prime Minister Thaci.

The Government of Portugal Recognizes the Republic of Kosova

Today on October 7, 2008, the Government of Portugal becomes the 48th UN and 22nd EU country that has officially recognized the Republic of Kosova as an independent state.
